My heart is broken the love of my life, my husband passed away one day after our six year wedding anniversary.
I knew from the moment I heard Carlos's voice over the Radio that he was going to be a part of my life. I would show up to the World Beat Center looking for him. However, it wasn't till my 20's when Carlos and I finally had that moment.
Before we started dating Carlos ALWAYS went out of his way to make sure I knew he saw me.
Our romance started at the Office Bar when we both showed up alone. I must have asked him 21 questions that night. He asked me only one main question but, none the less a pretty important question... for my number.
We started dating 10 years ago. When he asked me to be his gf I told him I don't think so I was going to stay single for a year. Ya right, I never left.
He loved our daughter Coral like she was his own.
We were blessed enough to have his only genetic daughter Sequoia.
Marriages can have their ups and downs but, the love Carlos and I share will last more than a lifetime. Our love for each other will be passed on through generations.
Carlos Culture
you are the kids and I guardian angel now. We love you always and forever!!!

My friend and fellow reggae ambassador Carlos Culture
(High Power Sound System) passed on to Zion last night. I am in shock, disbelief, and very saddened by this. He called me out of the blue just two weeks ago and we were discussing Sierra Nevada World Music Festival
memories and plans to keep forwarding the music and positive vibes into the future. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and the reggae fraternity who is feeling this great loss.

Couldn't sleep last night but didn't know why... This morning I saw my bredren Carlos Culture
passed on yesterday. Incredibly sad news, he was such an upful and positive force in the California reggae business. He was a guest at my home a couple years ago and though it was a brief post-sumfest visit I enjoyed the time we spent here. Spoke to him earlier in this whole pandemic mess and had a really great conversation on music, business and some ideas for collaborative efforts.
I remember in my younger days touring with different artists through San Diego and Carlos would always be the first to greet us and know exactly where to go for the best Jamaican food in town. Just an all around likeable guy. He'll be missed for sure

The strangest thing about Sunday is that my heart was hurting me so bad when We were setting up the sound system, that I had to take a break. Plus the sun was so hot I felt like I was having heat stroke too. So I went in the house and had a long cold shower and then sat down for 30 minutes before doing my show. After the show we packed up all the gear and I drove the van and trailer home with my heart still hurting me. I honestly thought my time had come and I just wanted to get Antoinette
home safely. I had no idea that Carlos Culture
would be gone the next day. We had a good time and spoke about the new dub music he was playing. He was so excited to explain how the Dub scene is exploding all over the world. He always brought joy into my life whenever our paths crossed and he looked so healthy on Sunday!

So I’m gonna take as much care of my health as possible and do my best to be around for a while longer. Tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone, so let’s make the best of every moment and remember to show each other LOVE! ❤️

RIP my beautiful brother until we meet again on the Mansion Worlds.

... active for decades he was long associated with the WorldBeat Cultural Center
, Winstons OB
, the Belly Up
, Bob 95 FM
and many other events and venues... from the time he arrived in San Diego, California
he supported and grew with #TradeRootsReggae... in recent years he was always quick to promote Zion High Productions

music... he and his many contributions will be sorely missed... condolences to his lovely family during this difficult transition...

My love and admiration for Carlos Culture is ineffable, my reggae soul brother from the same mother (Earth) is now free of mortal bondage. So many exiting now (rightfully so and we cant blame them) to guide InI from the powerFULL position of overseer from the heights of Mt Zion. I recently reconnected with Carlos and did an Inner View for his Bob Radio where Carlos gave me the opportunity to tell my life story in reggae and music. [www.radio.com]
II wish I could have returned the favor. So many of us are in debt to his unparalleled contribution to reggae and the world. WE can all pay the debt by doing more for reggae than we did yesterday. Carlos outpaced us all so I am personally stepping it UP in honor of my brother.
Since April, Carlos and I stayed in FULL contact every strong after almost two decades of unpurposeFULLY ghosting each other. We shared love for other radio show hosts we were both listening to, thru my latest project the Reggae Radio Roadmap facebook page (the one stop for reggae radio shows with over 130 listed and growing) Carlos would want me to promote it on this expression of joy and selahbration of the life of a genuine caring loving human "becoming" ( he was WAY more than just "being" )
His latest passion in reggae was for Steppers and we laughed and IRIEjoiced listening to Vibronics, King EarthQuake, etc and the power releases of Brizion, Firik Amlak and the San Diego roots family. Carlos humbly supported locals on the same level as the international stars.
Today I rest in joy knowing that JAH sent us an angel ally to forward the works of Rastafari and reggae. Carlos' love of JAH and reggae shines a bright light on this sad day. My sincere condolences to Tanya Daley, daughter Sequoia and the entire family.

Earth angel gone to Zion too soon!! Carlos Culture
I photographed him here with daughter Sequoia and wife Tanya Daley Torres
in the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival Kidz Zone. Carlos is a an irie ICON for Reggae a true champion sound man he's been a bredren, an ally, a talent liaison, an MC, a radio DJ for decades including now on Bob Radio San Diego's reggae HD station, he's a party host/promoter of events for live bands weekly/non stop while holding down a full time job as an art teacher in San Diego public schools, he's a father of dear Sequoia who he would set up camp with at the beach on a daily basis to feed their souls and listen reggae. He's a champion and he's with the angels. Overwhelmed by the loss, just linked with him for one more promotion/ interview hit last month, so grateful that I talked to him and told him again what a great Dada and Super man he was and is. Bless his soul Jah Rastafari keep his family and friends, bless us all, huge void, San Diego and the material world lost an empathic, generous, thoughtful, brave heart, may his life be a testament to goodness

Rest in Power Brother! I am still in disbelief. These pics are from his Live Video the day before he joined our ancestors yesterday. He was able to go out doing what he Loved best. Being an amazing Husband, Father, Friend, DJ and Reggae Promotor. You were amazing to me and our Orange County Crew you were a big part of my career growth. You accepted us into your community when we (ISOULJAHS / Ras Mikey

Fare Well Carlos. We are stunned and deeply pained by the sudden loss of brother Carlos Torres, widely known as DJ Carlos Culture
. Words cannot express the beauty of this man and the exemplary way he lived his life. His infectious smile and positive outlook, deep knowledge and devotion to reggae, and hard work for the culture made a difference in thousands of people's lives.
Carlos was a beloved and influential voice of the California reggae community. Simply said, but not simply earned, Carlos will forever be one of reggae's great champions, a deep roots reggae and dancehall DJ, an MC, a promoter and talent liaison. Carlos welcomed and gave a platform to hundreds of musicians and artists in the San Diego area over the years. He was a graphic arts teacher in the San Diego school system, and devoted his life to the arts. Most of all, we remember the love and joy he embodied when with his reggae family. SNWMF is grateful for the love and friendship of Carlos Culture and for enriching our lives and SNWMF. We send so much love to his beautiful family, Tanya, Coral and Sequoia, to our reggae community and Carlos’ countless extended family with whom we mourn collectively.
A life well lived and well loved, Rest in power Carlos.
