Tarrus Riley

Tarrus Riley is a force to be reckoned with among the second generation of roots reggae artists. Tarrus was born in Bronx, New York, and raised in Jamaica. He started out DJing and learning to play a variety of musical instruments.

A youthful Tarrus Riley made his entrance onto the music scene in the mid-2000s with his debut album Challenges and the sophomore release Parables, which included the Sly & Robbie collab hit “She’s Royal.” A fruitful partnership with VP Records continued with three more albums.

His well loved 2014 album Love Situation, which he described as “a true tribute to the rocksteady era”, and features guest appearances from U-Roy, Big Youth, Konshens and Mr. Cheeks. The album gave Riley his first number-one placing on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart in February 2014. He was featured on Major Lazer’s song “Powerful”, from the 2015 album Peace Is the Mission, along with Ellie Goulding. He has always embraced his African roots with tracks like “Shaka Zulu Pickney”.
