Amy Wachtel, better known as The Night Nurse, is a NYC-based DJ and publicist who’s been playing, promoting and writing about reggae music since the early 1980’s.
Her monthly radio show, “Rockers Arena” is broadcast on WPKN-FM out of Bridgeport, CT and livestreams worldwide on wpkn.org Fridays 1-4pm East Coast Time. During the show, friends and listeners meet-up in the Facebook group “Rockers Arena with the Night Nurse” and interact in real time. Other times group members share news and info about reggae tours, artists, festivals and all things Roots and Culture.
“Rockers Arena” has been on the tri-state airwaves since 1984. The show takes its name from the title track of the Max Edwards album on the Epiphany Record label, serving as an ode to the label’s founder, SNWMF’s beloved Warren Smith.
Amy was the founder and editor of CMJ’s Reggae Route section of the trade-sheet the New Music Report. She has worked for various record companies including Island, Arista, and BMG and written for publications including Billboard Magazine, Reggae Report, and The Beat.
