If you haven’t
heard about the ‘Hand Cart Bwoy,’
you must be living in a cave on
a remote, deserted island
because Perfect is one of the
most powerful, intriguing and
refreshing voices on today’s
Reggae/ Dancehall scene. Born on
March 26th, Greg Rose grew up in
the cool hills of Bamboo in the
parish of St. Ann. His father
owned several jukeboxes, giving
him full exposure to the rhythms
of Jamaica. He counts Bob
Marley, Peter Tosh and Toots
Hibbert as some of his early
favorites.
From as early as nine years old
he was a primary school
entertainer. This stardom
exploded as he entered York
Castle High and by the eighth
grade he was a superstar,
performing regularly at school
concerts. After leaving high
school, Rose went to Kingston to
get a first-hand understanding
of the music business, spending
time at studios like Penthouse,
King Jammys and Arrows while he
fine-tuned his art. He cut his
first tune as Little Ninja,
before settling on his current
stage name, which seemed
appropriate given his
perfectionism as a recording
artist. Returning to St. Ann, he
started appearing at dances and
stage shows every chance he
could, causing his popularity to
soar until his name was on
everyone’s lips.
Determined to break into
mainstream recording, Perfect
recorded a few self-produced
songs. ‘Hand Cart Bwoy,’
‘Amerimaka’ and ‘No Badda Mi’
are just a few of his hits that
blazed the airwaves and are
included in the 2006 release "Giddimani."

Early 2008 saw the release of
Perfect’s second album, "Born
Dead With Life" on
Irievibrations Records. A
concept album concerned with the
history of slavery, the CD got
extraordinary reviews and
reveals a deeply personal side
of the artist. Additionally, he
continued to release hit singles
on all the hottest rhythms
making the radio and dancehall
rounds in Jamaica.
A collection of singles made up
Perfect’s 2009 album, Karma.
With lots of popular tunes on
familiar riddims, Karma was the
beginning of a shift towards the
alt/pop world. 2010 is the year
when Perfect’s name got
recognized outside of reggae
circles with the multi-genre
album “French Connection”,
produced by Sherkhan for Tiger
Records. Released in Europe
through IrieVibrations, the
album contains the song "Forget
Everything”, which mixes
bohemian hipster with a healthy
dose of the Red Hot Chili
Peppers.
Last year, Perfect teamed up
with Lustre Kings Productions for
his latest release "Back For The
First Time" which includes an
ode to Peter Tosh along with the
popular slection "Hold On Buju."
A Rastafarian, Perfect’s lyrics
are deep and straightforward yet
unforgettably melodious, leaving
you to listen over and over.
Simply put, he keeps his lyrics
real and unapologetically uses
music as his medium for
education and self-awareness.
Recognized as one of the most
powerful, intriguing, and
refreshing voices on today's
reggae and dancehall scene, this
artist mashes up urban style,
roots vibes, and straight up
soul for a combination that is
perfectly Perfect.
