Locos Por Juana
is a 2x Grammy Nominated,
bilingual Jam-Band formed in
Miami, FL in the year 2000 most
notably recognized by their
electrifying dynamism onstage
and their unique take of
Afro-Caribbean Music. The
present lineup consists of
vocalist Itagui Correa,
guitarist Mark Kondrat, and
drummer Javier Delgado which
form the nucleus of the group,
joined by trombonist Lasim
Richards and percussionist
Carlos Palmet, and at times as
many as 5-7 guest musicians may
join the band onstage.
Locos Por Juana's sound is a
distinct one, drawing from the
members' diverse backgrounds.
The heart and soul of their
hybrid style emanates from
Colombia. Itagui and Javier were
born in Colombia, and Mark is
Miami-born of Colombian descent.
As such, they incorporate the
beloved sounds of their heritage
and their upbringing, like
Cumbia, Champeta and
Afro-Colombian rhythms such as
Mapale and Chande, reshaping
them, breathing a new life into
them, and giving them an
altogether new identity. Also,
Integral to Locos Por Juana's
style is the musical influence
of Reggae, Dancehall and Ragga
from Miami and the Caribbean;
and Hip-Hop, Rock and Funk from
the US.
Locos por Juana released their
first two albums with idependant
Salsa Label, Musical Productions
(MP) Records. The first album,
self-titlted, was released in
2003 and nominated to Los
Premios Nuestros for, Best Urban
Album. Their second release,
Musica p'al Pueblo, was
nominated to the 2005 Latin
Grammy Awards for Best
Rock/Alternative Album.

In 2007, Locos por Juana signed
with Universal Musica and
released the critically
acclaimed, American Grammy
Nominated album, La Verdad in
2008. The band went on a East
and West coast American tour in
support of the release which
followed with a Summer European
Festival Tour. In 2010, Locos
por Juana returned with a new
independently released EP
titled, Evolucíon which took
them to Bogota, Colombia when
the album was nominated to Los
Premios Shock for Best
Alternative Album.
Many
have tried to define their
style, the L.A. Times calls
Locos por Juana “a funky,
pan-Latin amalgam,” and
referenced their “pulling
listeners into a reverse Gulf
Stream churning through the
Straits of Florida south to
Jamaica, Venezuela and Colombia,
and over to Puerto Rico.” Miami
New Times has regaled their 2008
American Grammy nominated
release, La Verdad (Universal
Music) as “the truth of a new
multicultural, cosmopolitan
generation, played out in the
music that represents their
cross-cultural connections.” and
The Miami Herald dubbed them
“Miami’s beloved
Latin-Reggae-Hip-Hop mashup
master.”
From Colombia to Miami, from
Central America to Europe, Locos
por Juana is ready to break out
with their
New Album: Somos de la Calle
