LISA MONET

Two-time national
Parents' Choice Award winner,
Lisa Monet has released a new
CD. My Best Friend, Songs to
Grow On, is brimming with
enthusiasm for life and
friendship. Celebrating
experiences familiar to children
everywhere, the nineteen
traditional and original songs
include “Goin' to a Restaurant”,
“Shake Your Boompa”, “Genny's
gettin' Up”, “Hearts and Hands”
(the sign language song), and
the title song.
My Best Friend is
the second in a series of albums
being digitally remastered and
repackaged in eco-friendly “digipaks”,
by Monet and her fellow
artist/engineer, husband, Rick
St. Charles. At its initial
release in 1991, this is the
album that garnered the honor
for Monet from Billboard
Magazine as one of the “Five
Leading Ladies of Children's
Music.” It joins Circle Time,
Songs and Rhymes for the Very
Young, and Tingaleyo, a
bilingual treasure trove of
songs in Spanish and English
from many countries. Three more
titles are scheduled to be
re-released in the coming
months. Each album features her
warm vocals, lush harmonies,
classical/folk guitars, and
dancing percussion.

This collection
of children's music CDs was
launched with the couple's first
child, Matthew, and further
inspired by his sister, Genny.
Now a family music business,
Circle Sound Productions, Matt
is the technical consultant and
Genny the cover and graphic
artist.
With a style that
reflects an extensive
performance career: classical,
folk, rock, and Latin ensembles,
from university halls in Spain
to the Troubador in Los Angeles,
Lisa has shared billing with
Norton Buffalo, Ella Jenkins,
James Cotton, Michael Franti,
and many others. A native
Californian and a
multi-credentialed teacher, she
first studied classical guitar
as a child in Argentina, and has
lived, studied and performed in
Argentina, Spain, Mexico and the
Pacific Northwest.
A best-selling
artist with Music for Little
People for twenty years, Monet
is now with the independent
label Circle Sound Productions.
Daughter Genevieve, an Arcata
Arts Institute graduate, is the
graphic artist of the cover and
inserts to Tingaleyo and My Best
Friend, and son Matt, a feature
film director/editor, is the
technical consultant.
