John Brown's Body has been delivering their grassroots sound for over 10 years. With over 1,000 shows under their belt and 7,000 CD sales to date, the Ithaca, NY band has created a strong following. The conscious lyrics and powerful dance grooves blend together to create a unique sound beyond the boundaries of traditional reggae.
Their most recent album All Time on I-Town Records received strong airplay across the country, remaining in the top playlists of college New World programs for over 10 weeks. With literally no major distribution, John Brown's Body managed to capture a place in Rolling Stone magazine's "Alternative Picks" section in the September 1997 issue. "Vanity," a track off the All Time album will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming Ray Liotta film, The Substitute 2. The band is currently in the studio finishing their next record.
In addition to their extensive domestic touring, the band has performed in Japan and Jamaica. JBB has been so well accepted by the West Indian community that Jamaican superstar Halfpint has asked the band to back him up on his upcoming record and national tour. Over the last year John Brown's Body has headlined festivals, college and club dates throughout the Northeast. John Brown's Body is a group that will stand the test of time.
