Common Sense

British ska paddled out into the California surf in the early eighties, and now, in the early nineties, Common Sense dictates that there is a positive-vibe connection between reggae and rock for its youthful crowd along this coast. This 7-piece line-up from Orange County, starting out as the Ska Pigs, puts on an energetic reggae show with psychadelic guitar (hence the title of their latest CD, Psychadelic Surf Groove) and sweet harmonies. In an era where music lovers are being offered less and less traditional reggae as it was in the seventies and eighties, it is good to know that Common Sense is carrying the torch or, rather, the burning spear!
